In the week when George Mendoza died aged 95 years old. George was the sailor kissing a woman in Times Square when the iconic photo known as “The Kiss” was taken, Mendoza was on leave in New York City. Photographer Alfred Eisenstaedt snapped the photo, which was published in “Life” magazine. The woman in the photo was Greta Zimmer Friedman, an Austrian-born Holocaust refugee and dental assistant.
Well the challenge this year is "Street Photography" the shot of the kiss being one of the most famous.
The hand in date is the 27th March and the results will be announced on the 10th April.
This is a print competition and members may enter up to three images 16''x12'' mounted they can be black & white or colour or a mix. They must have a title and membership number on the back. There will be information on where members may wish to send images for printing at the club next week.
